Make sure you stay sun safe even when you're at home!
Sometimes applying sunscreen can feel like an inconvenience or even become an afterthought. Especially so, during lockdown or when the sun doesn’t seem to be shining. Many people might only apply their sunscreen if they are going to the beach or the park. However, exposure to UVA & UVB is happening all the time, even on a cloudy day in your own back garden.
Did you know that up to 80% of UV radiation can penetrate through light cloud cover, so even when the sun is not shining on you directly, you are exposed? (1)
We strongly advocate that you don’t rely on just the temperature outside to determine when you need sunscreen, as the sun is still shining on a cold day.
Wearing a broad spectrum, high-factor sunscreen every day helps protect against the sun’s potentially harmful UVA and UVB radiation, which can cause sunburn, pigmentation, premature ageing, wrinkles and skin cancers. (2)
Always make sure that you are protected with a good quality sunscreen that protects from UVA and UVB (giving you broad spectrum protection) Ensure you reapply every 2 hours, especially after swimming, sweating, exercise and towelling dry.
