The best lockdown activities to do in your own back garden.

Make the most of your time at home!

It can get a bit monotonous during lockdown, not being able to go about daily activities in the usual way. However we’ve come up with our top 5 activities you can do in your own back garden while adhering to social distancing measures.

1. A home workout
Restrictions on gyms and sports doesn’t mean you can’t exercise. There are thousands of home workouts available on youtube that are designed to be done at home. It doesn’t even matter if you have no equipment either as you can do simple bodyweight exercises such as press ups and squats.

It’s easy to become sedentary during lockdown but a quick half hour work out will get the blood pumping and burn off some calories.

2. A bbq
Is there anything more enjoyable than a simple home bbq? It doesn’t matter if it’s gas or charcoal powered, a barbeque is always a fun meal that gets the family eating together. Now that more than one household can mix it’s an even better excuse to have one.

3. Build a den
This is a childhood favourite. The best part of den building is the lack of rules. You can use anything to hand to make a den. Let your imagination run wild and encourage your children to do the same as you build a fun place to play. All you need are some sheets and some chairs to start building.

4. Swingball
Swingball is a classic garden game. Simple to play and quick to set up, swingball is a family favourite as it doesn’t require lots of skill or fitness to play. Available to buy from most major retailers and supermarkets, swingball is the perfect game to play between generations while maintaining a good amount of social distance.

5. Fill up the paddling pool!
A staple of most family gardens is the paddling pool. The perfect place to let little ones cool down during the summer and a rather inexpensive item to buy.

Whatever you decide to do in your garden, ensure you stay safe in the sun and reapply SunSense™ every two hours especially after swimming, exercising, sweating and towelling dry.
