How to use SunSense
Applied properly, SunSense high factor sunscreen can help protect your skin from potential damage from UVA and UVB radiation – here are a few tips on how best to use it.
Protecting your skin from UVA and UVB radiation takes more than just quickly smearing on some sunscreen once you’ve got to the beach. In order to get the most out of your SunSense product, and ensure you are benefitting from the full SPF, it is important that you follow the application directions properly. We have a range of products to suit every skin type, so begin by choosing a sunscreen that suits your skin and lifestyle. Then, follow our directions carefully to ensure your SunSense product is working its hardest for you.
It is important to apply SunSense sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you go outside, to make ensure skin is properly protected before it is exposed to the sun’s potentially harmful rays. You should apply around 3ml, or half a teaspoon, of sunscreen to each arm, your face and your neck. For the front and back of your body and each leg, you should apply around 6ml, or one teaspoon, of sunscreen to each area. When applying sunscreen to your face, it may help to use a mirror to make sure you haven’t missed any areas. Covering all exposed areas completely and evenly is central to preventing sun damage.
Applying sunscreen once, at the beginning of the day, is not sufficient to keep you protected throughout the day. You should reapply SunSense high factor sunscreen every 2-4 hours as directed on the bottle, and especially after swimming, exercising, perspiring, or using a towel to dry yourself. Try to avoid prolonged sun exposure, even if you are using sunscreen, and cover up with clothing, hats, and eyewear whenever possible.
